Yes you should, I've done it 6 times in various iterations (never quite coast to coast, but close enough for my book) and each time has been a new adventure. It's much more challenging in a C150/U (where the VOR's won't pass a VOR check). Water towers are useful for verifying your position.

I did it one way. I'm partner on a Cardinal that we bought at KAPV (California) and flew it to KLZU (Georgia). It was a fantastic experience.
