Was doing some gliding last night from Trona to Stovepipe Wells, had the idea of moving the camera to replicate the view I used to have while flying RC gliders. Of course, in real life, you can turn your head, so this was a bit artificial, but still a fun challenge.
This is the stock ASK-21 glider in X-Plane. The soaring dynamics in x-plane are quite amazing, considering it's not a dedicated soaring simulator.
When you're not in the ideal position, you do need to get pretty close to the hill to get the initial lift, but the lift band does project pretty far out and above the hill, so it all works out. I'll be organizing some gliding fly-ins in the near future.

Very nice, Keith! Thanks for sharing that with us!
Would anyone know of a decent glider for FSX/P3D?

Edited: posted on YT. It's the twitch recording, not local, so the quality could be better but I'd rather publish it than not at all.
I still have xplane replay on disk, but recreating that exact camera view will be challenging. I plan on putting together a different gliding video in the future.

Organize them to be at a time when I'm not on the schedule. I am really anxious to do one of these group flights!Keith Smith wrote:I'll be organizing some gliding fly-ins in the near future.
