John Wayne Airport Runway Renumbering

Post by Jeff N »

As some of you probably know, SNA is changing their runway numbers from 1L-19R and 1R-19L to 2L-20R and 2R-20L. They're doing the renumbering tonight after hours.

Should we expect PE to start using the new numbers as well?

They're delaying this until September to coincide with the next IFR chart cycle, that's why we haven't announced anything here. It's very common for the FAA to zag at the last second. We've been watching it closely.

Thanks Keith. I was wondering why there wasn't more mention of it here...

I'm glad I asked - I was about to re-do my scenery file tonight if it was going into effect. Changing every taxi and hold short sign would've been a LOT of work for one night...

Jeff, we actually have a Letter to Airman system in the works to announce these sorts of things. It'll be a section of the web site. You can expect to see details of the SNA situation and the rwy closures at SFO.

I've asked Shez if he could renumber his MK studios KSNA revision... He's looking into it

As I mentioned in my scenery thread for X-Plane, I'll have a new version out this week.

"Runway Two Zero Right at John Wayne"..... eeeeeeewwwwww..... I feel all dirty and discombobulated.

Oh well, time (and magnetic pole shift) waits for no one, I suppose. Let's do this.

(afterthought edit: is there an easy way to manually update FSX without doing getting dirty with all that database update stuff?)
