Aerobask Lancair Legacy (XP10) Released

I briefly took it up this morning flies great. Clickspots a bit of a pain to use (on the SL30)

I still wish he'd made an RMI for nav2 but otherwise the plane should be great for IFR or VFR on PE. Uses the "new" GNS530. Requires XP10.30

I got it as well. Seems to be pretty good. I was a bit surprised to get a slow speed warning on climbing at the default 1200' per minute, as the speed had indeed decayed, despite full power. Leaned more aggressively, pushed the nose down (and disconnected the AP), and then it seemed OK. I also recycled my throttle lever - maybe that was the problem. Anyway, it seems to be fun.

I hadn't bothered with my rudder/brakes pedals, but the "B" key works fine. Interestingly, I can't see any brake handle/lever. I guess the real one has one somewhere. I'll read the "real" docs. eventually :)

Also, I found it flies remarkably well with the fuel lever at "off"!

The A/P doesn't quite work as they say, because I didn't seem to need the A/P to be in upkeep mode to set a required altitude. As soon as you vary the altitude with the soft key, it disengages the ALT upkeep mode. At least, that's how it seemed to go with me, which initially caused me to scratch my head a bit.....

The 360 doesn't have a parking brake, just toe brakes. I wouldn't be surprised if the Legacy doesn't either. If you get behind the power curve, you could easily get into a case where you're doing 1200fpm and losing speed, regardless of the power setting.

Yeah I played a little more with tonight.

1) The XPNDR doesn't operate logically. In theory I could be typing in a new code, decide to press the VFR button and then enter a new code and the first digit I enter would be at the start of the 4 digit sequence. This doesn't happen in the legacy. If I entered two digits, then pressed VFR button, then entered another number it would change the 3rd digit because I left off at the second digit before pressing VFR. This is annoying.

2) Agreed with the AP. It doesn't seem to operate even as the manual describes. I engage ALT. It holds present ALT, then I increase ALT - sometimes I'll climb sometimes nothing happens. I then notice the ALT mode is NOT engaged. I'm not sure what's up.

3) ALT hold when in level flight porpoises... IE -500 fpm to +1000 fpm pitching up and down while I'm supposed to be at altitude. I've seen with with default XP's... not sure if it's on my end or what.

Other than that the plane flies really well, the cockpit lighting is good. The glass is a little tough to read but might because of my "only" high texture settings. There's no NAV2 bearing on the EHSI but at least we got DME for NAV2. The GNS530 is nice of course.

For 20 bucks its nice. But I hope he fixes the xpndr bug - I already mentioned that at his forums.

Picked this up and had a quick run at it today. Overall pretty happy with the plane, flies pretty nice and has enough bells and whistles in board to keep it interesting. I noticed a few quirks as well (for me it was trying to get the NAV course changed, seems unintuitive), but am not displeased with the purchase.
