I recently purchased the newly released Flight Factor A350 and have been trying to do a flight on PE with it. However when I start it up from a cold and dark state my radios simply do not work. They'll turn on all right but I do not seem to be able to hear anyone or be heard (presumably). The funny thing is when I start the plane with engines running the radios work fine. But I'm not an engines running kinda guy and so that simply won't do from my perspective. I thought it was a problem exclusively on FF's end until I tried the radios on VATSIM and they worked fine. So it appears it could be some form of glitch on both FF's and PE's side of things but I'm absolutely no expert on this sort of thing. I know the streamer Atomicfrawg has successfully flown the aircraft on PE but I don't think he starts cold and dark. So far I'm not aware of anyone else who has so I can't say has anyone else had this problem. Just wondering would anyone have any suggestions whatsoever. I've raised the issue on the org forums and on facebook groups to no avail so far.

Sean,
Nobody on the .org or FB groups has any insight into what makes the radios work on PE.
Are you familiar with how to use the dataref editor?

Re: A350 Radio Problems
I am aware of that Keith but that was when I thought it was a flight factor problem and not PE. As for the dataref editor I've heard of the thing but that's about it.

Re: A350 Radio Problems
Fair enough, Sean. Get hold of the datarefeditor plugin and then I'll look up the datarefs that our plugin uses to determine which radio is active, whether the avionics are on, whether there is enough voltage, etc. XSB doesn't do any of these checks, that's why it works fine there. It's also why the radio is always on in vatsim

Re: A350 Radio Problems
So I've installed dataref editor and I can now view a long list of green datarefs. What info in there of relevance are you looking for?

Re: A350 Radio Problems
sim/cockpit/radios/com1_freq_hz
sim/cockpit/radios/com2_freq_hz
sim/operation/failures/rel_nav1
sim/operation/failures/rel_nav2
sim/cockpit/switches/audio_panel_out
sim/cockpit/electrical/avionics_on
sim/cockpit2/electrical/bus_volts (array need all the values)
sim/aircraft/limits/max_bat_volt_standard
That's a start. Compare the working case to the non-working case, let me know what you find. You can part of the dataref name at the bottom of the window and it'll filter the list to those refs which contain those letters, (ie, you could type 'volt' and it would shorten the list very quickly). You can use the scroll bars to scroll through the arrays (such as the bus_volts, since there might be multiple buses).
The plugin only checks the voltage on the first bus.

Re: A350 Radio Problems
Ok so when I looked at all the parameters you listed the only anamoly I found was that when I loaded it up cold and dark, sim/cockpit2/electrical/bus_volts read 0.

Re: A350 Radio Problems
is it reading 0 after you power it all up from cold and dark?
