PE on Twitch

Post by dankress »

I just started streaming on twitch and I'm looking to get PE on my headset and on the stream. Is there a way to do this without having it come out of my computer speakers and going only to my stream and to my headset? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

After trial and error, finally found it so thought I would post the answer here. "Desktop Audio Device" needs to be set to the headset. I think I was making it a little harder than it was.

The problem then is that you lose the airplane and sims sounds (engines, beeps, gear and flap noises, etc). I'm curious about this issue too, since I can hear ATC much better when it's in my headset rather than out my (rather poor) speakers. I've found Virtual Audio Cable, but haven't gotten a chance to try it and see if it's worth the $25 yet.

Yes, that's what we're doing as well. The problem is that for broadcasting on Twitch, you can only capture the output of a single sound card. :)

The hardest part of livestreaming is getting the audio to work correctly. You're probably going to need to look into a virtual audio cable product or deal with some sort of external mixer to make this all work as you want it to. I've been wrestling with this very problem with my own streaming setup.

A simple solution (near as I can tell) would be to just route everything to the headset and then have twitch stream your headset audio rather than the speakers. To route everything to the headset, just set it up as the default device in Windows. That way, the sim will send the audio there, too.

FWIW, my full time setup (both for streaming and non-streaming) is to have all my audio come out through the speakers. I then adjust the engine volume to be low enough that I can hear the ATC audio fairly clearly. I use a headset that has just one ear piece (and I'm not really using the earpiece in any case) and one ear free.

Thanks for your guys' input... Tim and Vincent, I am still able to get the engine sounds and beeps and everything to my speakers and only PE through the headset. I do have a USB headset and then my speakers are plugged in through the 3/4" jack, not sure if that's why I'm able to or not though but all is happy in my world now, at least with audio :)

Struggling with balancing audio from FSX, PE and mic for Twitch through Open Broadcast Software. Should I be using another broadcast software app? Any suggestions on settings? The FSX sound is perfect, the PE audio is blasting, and my mic is just audible. I'm using the Game Console source. I have everything from the PC directed to the headset, and I'm using a spare aviation headset with a USB adaptor since I had the headset. Any suggestions appreciated.

The mic input volume is adjustable from the windows mixer. The FSX output and PE output are adjustable independently through the windows mixer. Between those three volume controls, it should be possible to make it all work.
