Send ATC sound to headphones in Xplane
Send ATC sound to headphones in Xplane
My most used plane, the Carenado C172, doesn't allow me to adjust the engine noise. So the engine ends up being to loud to hear ATC. Is there anyway to send only ATC sounds to my headphones and send all other sounds to my speakers?

Generyally, the headset is used by the PE client. In Windows, it's usually listed as "default communications device". What does your setup look like? Windows? Mac?

As far as I am aware, X-Plane uses the system default audio device. If your headset is USB, you can get the result I believe you want by checking to make sure your speakers are the system default, then change the PilotEdge plugin's output device to your headset. To change PilotEdge audio output device inside X-Plane 10:
Plugins > PilotEdge > Preferences...
If your headset is not USB it is not considered a separate audio device (the same sound card is producing the output and directing it to either your speakers or your headset) so the output cannot be easily split. However, all Carenado aircraft have a volume control accessible by clicking the "C" button near the bottom left of the screen. You should be able to turn down the aircraft sounds without affecting PilotEdge volume levels.

I plugged in a USB headset and got it to work. Thanks!
Now I just wish the ATIS came over the headset. But that's just a minor annoyance.
