RWDesigns Beech Duke out for XP10

Post by Ryan B »

It has both turbine and piston versions at a cheap price (27 USD)

It's pretty good but has some navigational bugs/instrumention bugs that the developer is working to fix. I'd wait until a patch comes out then buy it. Hand flying is decent, interior and exterior lighting is amazing. This is one category where XP10 crushes FSX/P3D. I failed the left engine in the piston and it wasn't too much work to get it flying coordinated again... so that's maybe a bit unrealistic, but the engine will windmill a little.

All in all it should be a great product once the bugs are squished.

Neat little plane but currently the transponder is non-functional on the network (at least in the turbine version). I concur that you should wait on a patch before getting this one.

Yeah, that and about 20 other major bugs I've found. At least the developer has been receptive to my bug reports.

I'm not familiar with many XP addons - but are there beta testers for XP stuff? I beta tested the RA Dukes in FSX/P3D. There were many obvious bugs in this XP10 version I'm suprised the thing was even released. The HSI is reverse sensing and there are no glideslope indicators! Argh.

Also I'm sure you noticed the shared cockpit items between the two that cannot possibly be shared... like the ASI, the throttle quadrant (red knobs say high and low idle in the piston lol), reverse on the power levels in the piston...

At first I was thinking... ok the guy missed a few things... but as I dig deeper.... ick - I don't like what I find.

Most of the devs have a beta team of some sort. Some are better than others, I guess. I don't plan on flying the piston variant, but it's unfortunate to see mistakes like these.

I don't like it. Textures are nice, but that is just about it. Piston version uses stock x-plane sounds, the turbine version starts the plane for you once you hit start, the attitude indicator doesn't show how much you're banking, etc. If it was $15, maybe not as much of a big deal. But at $27-29( I bought it when it was at $29...), it's in Carenado/SMS Beaver range. It needs to be a lot better......
