Heard a pilot last night connect at KLAX in a C172, ask for progressive taxi, and admit they had no charts. I was dumbfounded. That person gets 100% positive credit for mentioning that they would do the training program after this flight, without prompting from the controller.
But, c'mon folks. Pull a chart. If you can't taxi around the airport, you radio time is taking away from the rest of us when it's one PE controller working the entirety of SoCal.
I make mistakes and I did last night flying out of Yuma. But I had the chart, understood what I did and how to fix it. I was a bad pilot because of skill, not for lack of preparedness.

And in case people need charts.... look no further than the dTPP site: (click on "Terminal Procedures Search")
http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_i ... ucts/dtpp/
There might be other places to find charts too but this one allows you to simply enter the airport ICAO or FAA (with or without the K) and get the charts.

skyvector.com is also a great flight planning tool.

KLAX (all charts):

Don't forget http://www.myflightroute.com. IMO one of the easiest sources for TEC routes.

Think I know who you're talking about.... He was referred to the program before hence him being proactive on it this time( heard this incident on the radio during someones stream)
I don't think people understand the serious/professional nature of PE. Think they can hop on just like Vatsim and shoot from the hip/learn as they go with no prep.

I totally agree Chevy. In my opinion it detracts from the realistic and professional network we all signed up for. I know that the controllers are more than willing to refer people to the training ratings and kick people if necessary. My first time on the network I was scared to death just to do a lap in the pattern for fear of making a mistake let alone trying to fly IFR out of KLAX.
Keith was remarkably calm and professional with a kid (or certainly what sounded like a kid) in an airliner at KSNA today. Was listening to it on the PE Receiver and cringing a bit.

David,
Thanks, but I actually removed him from the network shortly after and closed his account due to not meeting the age requirements listed in our Terms of Service.
