I did try searching.
Is there a way to assign cowl flaps to a joystick axis in XPlane?
Thanks very much.
Cowl flaps on an axis
Re: Cowl flaps on an axis
I have a rocker switch assigned to the cowl flaps. one direction to open and the other direction to close. This is on the X-plane Carenado Barron. Simple matter of hitting the button that you want to assign to find out it's number. Then find the "action" to assign that button to.
Important note. It quite possible to assign a button to cowl flaps. But if the cowl flaps haven't been modeled, then nothing will happen. Take for example the default X-plane Barron. The cowl flaps are not modeled. Where as in the Carenado Barron they are.
Settings -> joystick and equipment -> buttons adv -> flight controls -> Move cowls flaps open a bit

Re: Cowl flaps on an axis
Thanks for that wmburns.
This is on the Carenado Bonanza F33A.
It does have cowl flaps and they can be anywhere between fully open and fully closed.
I have a Saitek Switch Panel which only allows fully open or fully closed I think.
I was hoping for an axis. (you can do that in FSX)
But you're right, I have rocker type switches on my throttle quadrant so could use one of those.
I just need to find where the cowl flap gauge is in the Bonanza.
(It has a plunger (vernier?) but it will be hard to judge with that I think)
Thanks
