Intermittent disconnect from PE

Post by pxlmonk »

Well, it happened again this morning. I'm flying around Agua Dulce and talking with ATC. Everything seems fine. After about 10 minutes of flying around I suddenly become aware that I'm not hearing any chatter on So Cal any longer.

I'm still hearing the sound effects/environmental audio through my Dave Clarks, but no ATC.

I disconnect / reconnect PE twice to no avail. So I just squawked 7600 and returned to my home base (KWHP)

This happen to anyone else in the PE community? I'm flying PE on a Mac 15" retina, El Capitan OS 10.11.5. I'm using a Dave Clark headset interfaced with my Mac through a FlightSounds X aviation USB adaptor.

I noticed on the archived records for the morning's flight that there is a record of me taking off from WHP, but no record of me landing. So it looks like PE disconnected me sometime during my flight. (?)

Thanks for any input.

If by 'archived records' you're referring to pewaware, that isn't indicative of anything since flight tracking for VFR flights only happens if you have flight following to your destination and the controller enters the destination in the strip.

You were connected to PE (I was controlling your flight) and I observed you landing at WHP squawking 7600. I checked the voice room and you were still connected.

I'm not sure what would be causing the Mac to no longer play the audio. Given that this happened the day before as well as today, I would try using a different audio output device and see how it goes. A regular USB headset (instead of the aviation headset adapter) is worth a shot, or just regular speakers.
