Re: Out of Mini-Route and Over SMO direct to Burbank

Thanks, Reece. That makes sense. And if they don't need to talk to me, they can let me know on initial contact. I appreciate the guidance.

Out of Mini-Route and Over SMO direct to Burbank

I thought I knew this but now am confused. Please assume that I have just exited Los Angeles Bravo on the mini-route heading north. I am at 2500 feet and have been given permission from SMO to transit their airspace. Once over SMO, I head direct to Burbank at 2500 feet. I assume that I need not ...

Re: Hollywood Part Route and ATC Controller Preferences

Thanks, Steve. Going back to the charts, I think you are spot on. I would indeed have been crossing KSNA's jet traffic. And that then is why the controller let me go where he did. You think I would not get into any more trouble but then I turned around and busted the 7K - 10K Class Bravo shelf. My ...

Hollywood Park Route and ATC Controller Preferences

Flew again tonight from Paso Robles to John Wayne via the Hollywood Park Route. I avoided the mistakes I made previously but added two new ones. At least I know the number is decreasing. First, all of the controllers I spoke with tonight were polite and professional. But here is my questions. I was ...

Re: Paso Robles KPRB to KSAN: LA Center vs Oakland Center

Thanks to you and Ryan once again for the your valuable advice. I am a pilot and, coincidentally, will be heading to NorCal at Mather for a tour next week. I am really excited to see how you magicians work your magic. Thanks again to you both. I will let you know how my next flight turns out ...

Re: Paso Robles KPRB to KSAN: LA Center vs Oakland Center

My thanks to everyone for their help. Because of that, and a little research on my own (which I should have done before this but did not know what questions to ask) I think I am on a little stronger footing. NorCal and SoCal are TRACONs and they are responsible for controlling Class B airspaces ...

Re: Paso Robles KPRB to KSAN: LA Center vs Oakland Center

Hi Mark,
Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond – especially listening to the tapes. That actually was a long flight. This is the reason I like to mix things up a lot before I take any test – I put myself in a variety of scenarios where I really goof up and learn so much. I probably ...

Paso Robles KPRB to KSAN: LA Center vs Oakland Center

Quick questions. But before I ask, let me say how thrilled I am to be a member of the PilotEdge community. Nowhere can one receive this type of training and, take my word for it please, this type of training is gold. Now on to my question after a short background:
1. I am preparing for my V-3 and ...
